Recognising the wide range of challenges young people encounter, including mental
health and wellbeing as they seek to meaningfully participate in life through arts and
culture, the Foundation seeks to apply Riky Rick’s legacy of caring for and
supporting young creatives.
The Foundation recognises the power of art and culture in humanity and the
importance of centering art and culture in all endeavour, including activism. Artivism
is the term the Foundation uses to depict the intersection of art, culture and activism.
By convening the Energising Global Artivism initiative, the Foundation seeks to
catalyse and energise the global artivism movement. Recognising that, for decades,
artists, scholars, philanthropists and activists have harnessed their creative power to
shift dominant narratives, spark critical conversations, and inspire action for justice
and social change, the Foundation is supporting Global Artivism movement-building.
At a time when the world is in great turmoil, leaving young people feeling particularly
disconnected and in need of hope, mass participation in change initiatives is critically
important.
